I seriously doubt that there weren't any americans that killed Japanese POW in real life - they're still the enemy after all. Contrary to some other reviewers, I don't think that the Americans were depicted as inhumane. Cinematography is decent, effects are pretty good and the open goriness leaves you with a feeling of hopelessness and grief which further augments the realism. Not only that, but the acting is exceptional and delivers the emotion even if you don't understand what they're saying. This movie demonstrates the humanity of each one of these soldiers (from both sides) and makes you reconsider the "enemy". Really feel that 'MURRICA-ness as they chop down all of the bad guys. Not that there's anything wrong with war movies here, but I had noticed that the americans are always the "hero", and that everyone else is a faceless enemy with no background.
